The council of representatives held on 15/7/2012 the sixth session of the first legislative term for the third year under chairmanship of Osama Al-Nujaifi, the chairman of the council of representatives. The session included the following:
- Presence 179 members.
- The chairman of the council of representatives decided to form a parliamentary committee from the human rights committee to investigate in the torture case of (Saddam Al-Batawi) based on a request submitted by 50 MPs to discuss this issue.
- The member of parliament Najib Abdullah read with a group of ladies and gentlemen from the members of the parliament a statement concerning the Muslims’ issue in Burma in which they condemned the crimes committed against them as genocide and ethnic cleansing, appealing in the name of the representatives of the Iraqi people who tasted the taste of injustice and killing in Halabja and marshes the international community to take urgent and necessary actions to stop what's happening in Burma, calling on the international humanitarian organizations to do its role to rescue the innocents in Burma.
- The second reading of the draft law of the official language submitted by the committees of the legal, culture and media, financial, education and higher education.
- The second reading of the draft law of the civil defense submitted by the committees of security and defense and legal.
The session was adjourned until Monday 16/7/2012.
