The council of representatives held on 6/8/2012 the sixteenth session of the first legislative term for the third year under chairmanship of Osama Al-Nujaifi, the chairman of the council of representatives. The session included the following:
- Presence 201 members.
- The council voted on a resolution included condemnation of the crimes committed against the Muslims in Myanmar (Burma) and calling on the international community to take urgent procedures to protect the Muslims and demanding the humanitarian organizations to exert efforts to preserve Muslims' rights in Burma.
- The council discussed voting on the members of the Independent Higher Electoral Commission.
- The presidency postponed voting on the second amendment proposal of the law of the Higher Commission for Human Rights, submitted by the committees of human rights and legal.
- Postponing voting on a resolution to reduce the wages of frequency spectrum and cancel the retroactivity on the iraqi channels registered exclusively inside Iraq in support of it, submitted by the committee of culture and media.
- The second reading of the draft law on accession of the Republic of Iraq to the convention on protection and promotion of cultural expression variety, submitted by the committees of foreign relations and culture.
- The second reading of the draft law on accession of the Republic of Iraq to the convention on suppression of unlawful actions against the safety of maritime navigation, submitted by the committees of foreign relations, security and defense, service and construction.
- The second reading of the proposed law to cancel the (40) item regarding stopping of salaries of the local councils members (Neighborhoods and Districts) from the federal budget of the Republic of Iraq for the financial year 2012 No. (22) for the year 2012, submitted by the committees of legal, financial and regions.
