 The council of representatives held on 28/8/2012 the seventeenth session of the first legislative term for the third year under chairmanship of Osama Al-Nujaifi, the chairman of the council of representatives. The session included the following:

 
- Presence 181 members.

- The first reading of the third amendment proposal for the elections law of the councils of the provinces and districts and sub-districts No. (36) for the year 2008, submitted by the legal committee.

- The first reading of the draft law on ratification of the agreement to amend the convention on establishment of the Arab Company for construction and repairing of ships approved by the law No. (58) for the year 1974, submitted by the committees of foreign relations, service and construction, financial and legal.

- The second reading of the proposed law of the first amendment for the law of Board of Supreme Audit No. (31) for the year 2011, submitted by the committees of integrity and legal.

- The second reading of the proposed law of the first amendment for the law of Integrity Commission No. (30) for the year 2011, submitted by the committees of integrity and legal.

- The second reading of the draft law on ratification of the convention on international road transport for persons and goods between the Government of Republic of Iraq and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, submitted by the committees of foreign relations, service and construction.

- The council discussed the recommendations of the tripartite committee in charge of the issue of oil pipelines passing within the ancient city of Babylon which included changing the track of the oil pipelines to outside of the ancient city according to a particular timetable and forming a committee from Ministries of Oil, Tourism and Antiquities and province of Babil to determine time duration for lifting the pipes as well as the support of the executive committee that will be formed by the financial allocations or acquisition of land for the pipelines alternative path.
