The Council of Representatives held on 26/1/2013 the eighth session of the second legislative term for the third year under chairmanship of Osama Al-Nujaifi, the Speaker of Council of Representatives. The session included the following:
- Presence 170 members.
- The committee of endowments and religious affairs congratulated in a statement the Islamic Nation and the sons of Iraqi people on the occasion of the birth of Prophet Mohammed.
- The Council voted on the decision of the Presidency of the Council of Representatives to form a parliamentary committee from the committees of security and defense and human rights, in addition to the chairmen of Iraqiya and State of Law to start its investigations in Fallujah and submit a report within 48 hours to take the necessary actions against those involved.
- The Presidency decided to donate amounts of money to the families of martyrs in Fallujah.
- MP Arshad Al-Salhi denounced in a statement read by him in the name of Turkmen members the terrorist attacks that targeted the Turkmen constituent.
- The Council voted on the proposed law to determine the tenure of the President of the Republic, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and the Prime Minister in order to organize the tenure of the three Presidencies and related provisions.
- The finance committee ended reading the special report of the federal budget.
- Mr. Al-Nujaifi announced accepting the official apology submitted by the MP Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, the Head of National Coalition, on behalf of MP Hanan Al-Fatlawi after violating the Bylaws of the Council.
The session was adjourned until Monday 28/1/2013.
