On 26/8/2013, the Council of Representatives (CoR) held its 15th session of the 1st legislative term of the 4th period chaired by the Speaker H.E. Osama al-Nujaifi:
- 221 MPs attended the session
- Speaker al-Nujaifi demanded the parliamentary blocs that submitted a number of proposals regarding decreasing the salaries of MPs or cancelling their pensions to be present at the Committee on Legal Affairs to arrive at a common legislative proposal to add to the agenda of the CoR;
- A list of MPs names who voted to pass the legislative proposal for ratifying the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Iraq and the Government of the Republic of Kuwait on regulating water navigation within Khor Abdullah was shown after a motion submitted by a number of MPs to the Speaker’s Council;
- The CoR voted in approval of the recommendations submitted by the Committee on Human Rights and the Committee on Legal Affairs regarding the crisis of Syrian refugees in Kurdistan Region. The recommendations included organizing a visit by the Committee on Human Rights and the Committee on Refugees to the Syrian refugees camps in the Region to assess their humanitarian conditions and allocating IQD 1 billion for their relief efforts;
- The Speaker adjourned the session as a result of the word fight that erupted between MP Kadhum al-Sayyadi of the National Coalition and MP Haider al-Mullah of the Iraqiya List;
- The session was adjourned to Tuesday 3/9/2013. |
