On 3/9/2013, the Council of Representatives (CoR) held its 16th session of the 1st legislative term of the 4th period chaired by the Speaker H.E. Osama al-Nujaifi:
- 222 MPs attended the session
- The CoR voted to pass the legislative proposal of the budget of the High Commission for Human Rights for 2014 totaling IQD 29,282,000,000;
- Speaker al-Nujaifi called on the government to speed up the process of sending the draft law for cancelling the pensions of the Speaker’s Council, the Presidency Council and the Prime Minister’s Council, asking the Committee on Legal Affairs to submit a legislative proposal in this regard;
- The CoR voted to ratify the agreement for economic cooperation and trade development between the government of the Republic of Iraq and the government of the Czech Republic submitted by the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Economy and Investment;
- The CoR voted to pass the legislative proposal for the 1st amendment of the Political Prisoners Institution Law No. 4 for 2006 submitted by the Committee on Martyrs, Political Victims and Prisoners and the Committee on Legal Affairs;
- The CoR finished the second reading of the legislative proposal for the second amendment of the University Service Law submitted by the Committee on Higher Education;
- The CoR finished the second reading of the legislative proposal for the Cultural Cooperation Law between the government of the Republic of Iraq and the government of the Republic of Ukraine submitted by the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Culture and Media;
- The CoR finished the second reading of the legislative proposal for nullifying the resolutions of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council No. 1021 for 1983, No. 197 for 1994 and No. 145 for 2001 submitted by the Committee on Legal Affairs;
- The CoR finished the second reading of the legislative proposal for the amendment the Law of the Penal Trials Rules No. 23 for 1971 submitted by the Committee on Legal Affairs;
- The session was adjourned to Thursday 5/9/2013. |
