On (1/7/2021), the House of Representatives held its third session of the second legislative term for the third year, the fourth electoral cycle headed by Mr. Muhammad Al-Halbousi, with the attendance of (180) and the session included:
Voting on a number of articles of the proposed sports clubs law submitted by the Youth and Sports Committee.
The Council postponed the paragraph of the oral question addressed to the Minister of Agriculture for not attending due to his infection with the Corona virus.
Postponing the vote on the draft law on information crimes, submitted by the security and defense committees, higher education, scientific research, legal affairs, culture, tourism, antiquities, human rights, services, construction, communications and media, at the request of the Security and Defense Committee.
- The second reading of the draft law on the National Day of the Republic of Iraq, submitted by the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Antiquities.
- The interventions of the ladies and gentlemen of the representatives on the project focused on the demand to educate future generations on the date chosen for the National Day, while a number of MPs suggested that the National Day should be on June 30, the start of the Twentieth Revolution, in addition to a proposal to adopt the ninth of April as a national holiday.
The second reading of the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to a protocol to amend the Convention regarding crimes and some other acts committed on board aircraft submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.
- The first reading of the draft law ratifying the Maritime Transport Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Iraq and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.
Mr. Hassan Al Kaabi, First Deputy Chairman of the Council, presided over part of the session.
- The first reading of a proposed law, a proposed law to amend Personal Status Law No. 188 of 1959, submitted by the Legal, Endowments and Religious Affairs Committees.
A number of ladies and gentlemen of the parliament demanded to discuss effective solutions to advance electric energy services to citizens, to know the reasons for the delay in the deterioration of electricity, to release the entitlements of the unemployed, to activate Resolution 315 regarding the installation of lecturers, to restore their contracts from the Popular Mobilization, the army, and the Interior, and to demand support for water projects and the trend towards the use of clean energy. And the call for justice in the implementation of Resolution 116 of 2017 related to calculating the risk for the security forces.
- Mr. Hassan Al Kaabi directed to host the advanced cadres of the Ministries of Electricity, Oil, Finance, Planning and Industry in the House of Representatives to inform the public about the electricity problem and the obstacles to improving the energy level
