Session Details
On (31/5/2022), the House of Representatives held its tenth session of the first legislative term of the first legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle under the chairmanship of Mohammed Al-Halbousi in the presence of (250) representatives and the session included:
- Second reading of the suggestion of Emergency Support Law for Food Security and Development submitted by the Finance Committee.
- The interventions of the ladies and gentlemen of the representatives included the demand to develop a clear economic vision and the creation of a thoughtful development to advance the reality of the country in the fields of industry and agriculture to reduce corruption and demand the reduction of the amount allocated to the Food Security Law, in addition to the adoption of justice in the distribution of financial allocations between the governorates according to their needs, and the call for the allocation of support to stalled projects, especially water and sewage services, support for the peasants share and the free lecturers and the requirements of local agricultural production.

- The claims focused on opening the door of competition to companies that prepare the items of the food basket, demanding the inclusion of the share of the Kurdistan region established by the Ministry of Planning within the law, and the need to determine what development projects are suggested to handle unemployment and support food industries and pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Mr. Al-Zamili, First Vice President, confirmed the keenness of the House of Representatives to provide legal cover to the government to enable it to meet the benefits of citizens, especially food security, social protection salaries and allocations of the service ministries, indicating that the House will not allow any suspicions of corruption that may be caused by the Food Security Law.
