On (23/6/2022), the House of Representatives held its extraordinary session of the first legislative term of the first legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle under the chairmanship of Mohammed Al-Halbousi in the presence of (202) representatives and the session included:

- Voting on the completion and approval of amendments to the rules of procedure of the House of Representatives, including cancelling the phrase "the Presidency and making it the President and Vice-Presidents", the deletion of the phrase "the member of the Presidency and its replacement with the phrase President or one of his Vice-President", in addition to amending reference of a number of representatives committees related to the nature of their work

- 64 of the 73 representatives toe the oath of the office to serve as members of the House after their names were read by the Speaker of the House.

- Mr Ahmed al-Asadi read a statement in which he referred to the agreement of the political blocs in a meeting held today to handle the effects left by the previous stage and the crises, the most serious of which was ISIS terrorism and the urgent need to achieve security and stability, indicating that the political blocs agreed to proceed with the formation of a national government according to the principle of balance, consensus and partnership that achieves the aspirations of the people and respects constitutional principles and work to resolve differences between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government and legislate the oil and gas law, return the liberated and poorest areas and provide Job opportunities for young people and imposing the prestige of the state on everyone.
