On (6/5/2023), the House of Representatives held its twenty-fourth session of the first legislative term of the second legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle under the chairmanship of Mohsen Al-Mandalawi in the presence of (175), and the session included:
-Postponing the vote on the draft law on the first amendment to the Ministry of Electricity Law No. (53) of 2017 submitted by the Electricity and Energy Committee and returning the project to the government at its request and until it sends the draft renewable energy law.
-Postponing the vote on the draft law on the National Day of the Republic of Iraq, submitted by the Committee on Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Media at its request.
-Postponing the vote on the report of the parliamentary investigative committee formed under Parliamentary Order 170 on 11/10/2022 regarding the investigation on the measures taken by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding the termination of contracts for Tikrit University and other Iraqi universities
-Second reading of the draft law on legal aid submitted by the Legal and Human Rights Committees.
-The interventions of the ladies and gentlemen of the representatives focused on demanding the study of some articles of the law related to social values accurately, and the call to take into account the segment of lawyers and not to be affected by the law and to open divisions in the governorates instead of sections.
-The second reading of the draft law of the Institute for the Training of Police Commissioners submitted by the Security and Defense Committee.
-The interventions of the ladies and gentlemen of the representatives focused on demanding the reduction of the penalties contained in the law, and focusing on humanitarian and military vocational training in line with developing the capabilities of policemen and allowing them to complete preliminary studies, in addition to granting the scientific title to officers with higher degrees, and determining the percentage of 15% for the families of martyrs in admission to the institute.
-The second reading of the draft law amending the first law of the Private Security Companies Law No. (52) of 2017, submitted by the Security and Defense Committee.
-A number of ladies and gentlemen of therepresentatives to include Iraqi employees in security companies in the Social Security Law, increase the percentage of Iraqis working in them to 70%, and not allow foreigners to contribute to the establishment of companies, as well as increase the value of renewing the license for foreign companies.
