On (9/5/2023), the House of Representatives held its twenty-fifth session of the first legislative term of the second legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle, headed by Muhammad Al-Halbousi, in the presence of (192), and the session included:
-The Speaker of the House announced the extension of the legislative term for a month in order to approve the draft federal budget law and continue to perform its duties.
-Voting on the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the statute of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.
-Voting on the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the agreement establishing the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development of 1990, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.
-Second reading of the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the Protocol of amending the Convention on Offences and Certain Other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.
-The interventions of the ladies and gentlemen of the representatives focused on demanding clarification of the feasibility of Iraq’s accession to international conventions and benefiting from them and the conditions they contain, and identifying the negatives and positives contained in the agreement, provided that the context of dealing is in accordance with the principle of reciprocity.

-The interventions of the ladies and gentlemen of the representatives focused on making observations on the provisions of the law and returning the project to the government to make some amendments to the origin of the law and review them by members of the House, and demanding to guarantee the right to access information, and addressing the issue of obtaining official approvals for demonstrations, as well as rearranging the articles of the law in a way that serves the freedom of opinion of citizens and not restricting them or making them with a loose interpretation to preserve the principle of democracy guaranteed by the constitution, and demanding not to legislate a law that may lead to absurd freedom and tightening Penalties for violations affecting state security and public order.
